Science Centers for Multi-Dimensional Standards Grades K-6

The new vision for science learning and teaching established in the new Mississippi College Career Readiness Science Standards requires a dramatic departure from approaches to teaching and learning science occurring today in most science classrooms. This approach to teaching and learning builds on identifying problems with science classroom learning and promising strategies for what is needed to make learning more meaningful and effective for students. Incorporating centers or work stations will provide students with opportunities for self-directed differentiated learning. his hands-on workshop will provide each participant with tips and strategies that will help in the development of differentiated classroom learning centers that engage students’ interests. Effective small groups will allow the teacher to quickly and easily assess students’ needs to target and remediate specific learning difficulties and skill deficits.
